HUmorizing
humorize: to inject or invite humor into, or to treat an interaction with humor.
A language of creative, positive, en-lightening humor: one that is uplifting, about laughing with people, not at people.
Recently I have been invited to apply my teaching and performing skills to a diverse number of projects. Here are some of the areas I am working in:
Trainings for Groups
and Organizations
Stress and Trauma Release Trainings/Workshops
Directing Clown, Varieté Shows/Numbers
Cinematic Creation/Actor Preparation

Trainings
For groups and organizations
" Who could know that this would be such a valuable team building experience? It had more impact than a ropes course or any previous team training I have done. "
Are
stress and tensions creating havoc in the working environment ?
Is there a need to develop capacity to interface with the public, with co-workers,
in a more humorful, positive way?
Humorizing Trainings develops capacity to connect
and communicate with lightness and positivity.
For working groups, engaging
humor opens pathways to creative, collaborative communication and trusting
relationships.
For those who interface with the public, humorizing creates positive relations
and disarms tensions.
At the conclusion of a private workshop for a famous German filmmaker, one actor said: "this is great, a new muscle I can use". Indeed! Positive Humor is a powerful muscle for enhancing communication, trusting relationships and ucollaboration in many environments.
About the trainings. Trainings in organizational
settings are based on my public workshops attended by professionals whose
work involves public interface: lawyers, managers, educators, psychologists,
nurses, dentists, doctors, coaches, trainers, salespersons. These trainings
are a useful tool to enhance and inspire creativity, creative collaboration
and problem solving.
Trainings range in length from 2 hour sessions to 3 day workshops.
Stress and Trauma Release Trainings/Workshops
These offerings have so far been in the context of Clowns Without Borders work with children in traumatic situations, both in Kosovo and Burma. The work involves releasing stress and trauma through humorous expression. I have developed specific clown/mime based exercises that offer children an opportunity to express negative emotions (fear, frustration, anger) in the context of play and being funny. For the children, it's about being funny and having fun (e.g. playing monsters.). In the play, they express from within, and in the process release pent-up emotions. The process is certainly not therapy yet has strong therapeutic values and can be applied to any number of situations.
Directing
Clown, Varieté Shows/Numbers
Since 2009, I have been directing a number of performers, both in creation, and in revisiting/refining clown and varieté numbers. I welcome opportunities to work with artists looking for more connection to their humor, and to integrating it to their performances.
Cinematic
Creation workshops/Actor Preparation
In 2011, Doris Dörrie, the German filmmaker (Cherry Blossoms, Enlightment Guaranteed) asked me to be levity master for her next film, Glück. The focus was on introducing lightness in negative emotions, so as to tell a difficult story with lightness and humor. We focused on expressing humor and lightness through non verbal expression, on creating relationship between the actors, and between the actors, the director and the cinematographer. The work was powerful and transformative, everyone was thrilled with the work, and the results will become clear when the film is released in early 2012.

For events large or small in the bay area, and beyond, it is possible to assemble
the clown conspiracy to humorize in the most sophisticated fashion.

" Moshe's workshops are more than just a 'clowning' experience. His emphasis on connecting with the audience and with teammates provides a solid foundation in how to meet someone on a common ground and truly be present in the moment. "
" We had a couple of opportunities to clown today (in business meetings 2 days later) and they were a big hit and release of tension for all. "
"The bottom line for me with Moshe’s work is how it can contribute to a wider range or palette within which to move in life, whether at a fire or at an airport or with family or whatever. I find the access to a new degree of lightness and limberness through physical movement and awareness a powerful tool. "
